Hikari’s questions

1, What was the first manga you read?

Dragon Ball but I didn’t really collect until Naruto.

2, How do you feel about ani/manga tubers? If you like them say which one is your favorite.

I don’t like them mostly – their analysis tends to be superficial and they focus more on being funny than actually analyzing the show if I had to say my favorite would be Digibro but his channel has kinda-of turned into a mess.

3, What platform for games do you like the most and explain why.

I mostly play on my PS4, but I plan on transitioning to the PC master race since I have been getting into strategy games.

4, What place would you visit in Europe and why?

Irland It’s where my ancestors are from.

5, Are you proud to be an otaku or a geek?

No, I am actually embarrassed to like anime and cute things since I’m a guy, I also worry about falling into the stereotypical anime nerd. A lot of people in my friend group are not into anime so its hard for me to connect with people. I often find myself wondering if I would be happier if I enjoyed more mainstream things like sports or whatever most people watch on TV.

6, How does your family feel about you being an otaku?

I think they are kind of natural to the whole thing, my mom doesn’t talk about it with me but my dad will actually watch some shows with me and actually enjoys a few of them.

7, What made you want to start a blog?

giphy-1

I needed an outlet for my ideas about anime and no one I know would care enough to have me ramble on to them about anime and movies so I started writing for fun. I also wanted to connect with other anime fans.

8, Do you collect anime DVDs, manga, or anime merch?

Yes, but I have a problem where I tend to stress buy a lot of manga.

9, In the community, do you prefer MAL or AniList ?

MAL because the rating helps me know what anime the community likes, so it is a good place to go for recommendations.

10, What do you think is the anime any anime fan should watch?

230px-shirobako_promotional_poster

Shiro Bako, its an anime about anime fans making anime. It highlights all of the great things about the industry, all the passion, and craft involved in making a show as well as all the troubles that come with working on an anime. I think everybody can relate to this show so a recommend you watch it more than I recommend breathing.

11, Do you like Asian dramas? If you do which one is your favorite?

I haven’t watched any Asian dramas.

YumDeku Questions

  1. What was the first anime you watched

Dragon Ball Z but the anime that really got me into the fandom which was Elfin Leid, I watched that show in middle school and I was so fascinated by how crazy the whole thing was I had to find more shows. I then transitioned to watching Death Note then Fate/Zero and after that, I got a Crunchyroll account and after that, I was hooked.

2. What was the first manga you read?

Answered above, but I’ve entered into this second phase of manga collection which started with Pleas Tell me Galco Chan, Miss Kobayashi Dragon Maid and Land of the Lustrious.

3. What part of blogging do you find the most challenging?

9c2da41dae1094970e4ea033aff9fdebe80f644d_hq

Given the fact that I am on hiatus, the biggest challenge is finding the time and motivation to blog along with working on school. I am also stuck between wanting more views and writing what I want to write about.  I think the main reason I want mew views is that I want to connect with more people and interact with them. If you have any advice about managing my blog with the rest of my schedule or how I should view my blog feel free to leave a comment.

4. Is your blogging personality true to yourself or have you made some changes in the way you present yourself?

I haven’t really defined my blogging personality yet, I want to say that I am critical of everything especially myself (hence the title of my blog being BAD REVIEWS) which is actually very in line with my true personality. Then again I’m the type of person who wonders if there is even such a thing as a “true” personality.

5. If you could bring one piece of an anime series — a magic spell, a piece of equipment, a technology, or something like that — to our world and use it, what would it be?

The Freeze spell from Konosuba that Kazuma always uses. I would use it to cool off coffee or tea that is too hot to drink.

6. What anime world would you absolutely never want to live in?

giphy

Dragon Ball Z – the world blows up most of the time and all the destruction must drive taxes up through the roof

7. Who’s your embarrassing anime crush?

wp1928904

Dark Magician Girl was the first crush I had on a fictional character when I was like in middle school. mostly because she was cute But now my preferences have changed

Now my type is short-haired, intelligent, and competent women, so here are my four embarrassing crushes.

Tsubasa Hanakawa from the Monogatari franchise

shorthairgtgtgtgtgtgtlonghairifyouseriously_ba035553cc597be9ab6f88747a303291

Extremely intelligent and competent and has a wonderful character arc where she learns to allow herself to be vulnerable and rely on other people, plus she gets short hair.

Makoto Nijima from Persona 5,

persona_5_makoto_niijima_cosplay_wig_2_1800x

Smart takes charges of situations but is clumsy when it comes to social groups, which is something I relate to, oh and she has short hair,

Aoi Miyamori from Shiro Bako.

362716

She is a professional with a passion for anime, who has to balance multiple demands and tasks in her everyday life. Akane is who I want to be when I enter the workforce, a problem solver who cares about the group she works with. I also identify with her struggle to find her purpose or goals in life because I am not clear in what I want out of life but I do know that I want to support the people around me. In this sense, Akane is both me and who I want to be, plus she has short hair so ya she is completely my type.

Nausicaa of the Vally of the Wind

9781421550640_p3_v1_s550x406

Pacifist, leader, competent, compassionate to every living thing and, short hair. pretty much my ideal partner.

Wow I spent way too much time crushing on fictional characters, now that’s embarrassing

8. What anime are you enjoying the most right now?

Split between Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid and K-on. I am really enjoying good slice of life shows. if you have any recommendations for more slice of life series like those two leave a comment.

9. Which anime character do you see yourself the most in?

Kobayashi from Kobayashi Dragon Maid

195e6d119a80f770c7e6f4ff567af6b3

Pragmatic, and mostly just wants to focus on her work. Puts up a serious front but is a serious maid Otaku on the inside that she only lets it slip occasionally, kind of like me and my Otaku side. I also really relate to her struggle with intimacy. I’ve had a few occasions where people have shown interest in me as a partner but I just never know how to handle or deal with those feelings. This is Kobayshi’s central struggle where she likes Tohru but doesn’t know how to deal with Tohru’s feelings towards her, which sums up my struggles with relationships.

10. You have to swap two main characters from (anime) series around.. for example, Naruto and Goku… who would you choose and which of the series would you want to watch more?

Nausicaa and Lulush I would want to see Nasuciaa’s pacifist ideology interact with the totalitarian and militant Britanian State and I would like to see Lusluse use his consequentialist mindset to navigate the hostel environment of Vally of the Wind

11. What is your favorite blog post that you’ve produced?

The Storytelling of Serial Experiments Lain is my best blog post from an analytical point of view, but Little Witch Academia is a series that is close to my heart so I really enjoyed writing that one.
